Our Story
Oro Integrated Cooperative (OIC) is an open-type primary coop that has been serving its members for 59 years. Ranking among the country’s leading cooperatives, OIC now serves over 195,512 members across its 24 branches strategically located in key areas of Mindanao and Visayas. The cooperative is owned and governed by its members from all walks of life through its board of directors.
Oro Integrated Cooperative was conceived by Atty. Mordino “Mordz” Cua. He dreamt of a cooperative that would provide financial self-sufficiency and economic independence to its members and the community. This dream materialized when he united 27 other individuals who strongly believed in the cooperative idea. With a modest startup capital of 88 pesos, they formed Oro Credit Union on March 5, 1966. The name was changed to Oro Integrated Cooperative in 1991 and has since become known as OIC.
OIC has become a household name, delivering quality and tailor-fit products and services to fulfill its mission. Over the years, members have shared stories of achievements and overcoming challenges with the help of OIC. These success stories have helped build OIC’s stature in the hearts of its members and the community.
Throughout its existence, OIC has amassed top distinctions, including being awarded one of the most outstanding cooperatives by the Cooperative Development Authority’s Gawad Parangal in 2012, 2013, and 2014. In 2019, OIC received the Most Outstanding Service Cooperative Award during the 8th Mindanao Business Leaders and Entrepreneur Awards. OIC launched its Online Services in July 2020, adapting to the pandemic’s impact. Members can now use Google forms and OIC’s official website for debit transfers, express loan applications, online membership applications, and payments.
In 2021, the Integrated Wealth Building Program (IWBP) was developed to strengthen financial literacy. The Kabayani Wealth Building Program (KWBP) was also launched in partnership with Sta. Catalina Credit Cooperative to assist Overseas Filipinos (OFs) and their families.
In line with OIC’s mission to meet the evolving financial needs of its members, the cooperative has introduced the ProPER Loan Classification - a thoughtfully enhanced product lineup that ensures every member finds the right solution at the right time.
Embracing innovation for member convenience, OIC is now on GCash! Members can now deposit and pay their loans using one of the country’s leading mobile wallet apps. Payments are posted within 1–2 days, making financial freedom more accessible than ever before.
Beyond financial services, OIC furthers its development efforts through its Enterprise Development Program, spearheaded by the Business Development Services (BDS) Department. This initiative supports inclusive economic growth by equipping member-entrepreneurs with resources, linkages, and support beyond credit.
Since the humble beginning of its very first office in Cagayan de Oro City, OIC is now settled in several buildings. OIC ventured on dynamic expansion pursuits and is currently operating in cleverly dispersed branches in Cagayan de Oro (6), Bukidnon (7), Misamis Oriental (3), Bohol (3), CARAGA (2), Davao Region (2), and Lanao del Norte (1).
